Background and objectives This side event will present FAO’s ongoing support to the development and operationalisation of selected headline indicators of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework monitoring framework and perspectives from Brazil, Kyrgyzstan and Kenya on monitoring and reporting on these indicators. It will provide an update on progress made on each indicator, including methodological refinements and adaptations for global reporting, efforts to strengthen data collection at national levels, and to facilitate data processing and indicator calculations. The session will also highlight key challenges and proposed solutions to issues around data availability and reporting and will discuss options to further enhance the usability and uptake of each headline indicator. In addition, the event will outline how the indicators contribute to global progress reporting and will contextualise findings for each indicator. During the event, Parties will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, seek clarifications, and discuss challenges and practical solutions related to the use of the headline indicators.
