Module 1: Capacity and Capacity Development Explained
[#3457]
Please note this is a DRAFT which has yet to be edited and formatted. It is not to be circulated beyond members of this Group. For this module, we need your input on:
(i) further reading and resources, real-life examples and case studies;
(ii) photographs that capture the essence of the topic; and
(iii) suggestions of potential candidates to participate in testing the materials.

Dear TSC
(This comment applies to all six modules)
Many thanks indeed for the opportunity to see the draft modules in this guide. There is a great deal of information in there.
I have not been able to reply to the requests in the Discussion Form as they were primarily for examples, photographs and case studies. Does this mean that the content is settled? I do have some questions about content and style, based on the surveys and interviews that we have carried out with some SBSTTA focal points and others stakeholders that may be relevant. I did not, however, wish to share those, if they will not be helpful at the moment.
I would be very happy to discuss more, if that would be helpful. As there is so much material and I have been teaching over the last two weeks, I have not had chance to examine these modules in detail, but would like to over the coming weeks. When do you anticipate them being finalised?
On candidates for testing the material, I could suggested some colleagues that we have worked with. Before that, however, is it possible to say what you are asking for and what is the timescale? Would you like a candidate to read the six module documents and provide feedback, based on their context?
We have been working on what makes effective and appropriate guidance and so I would be very happy to contribute more, if that would be helpful.
Best wishes,
Phil

Dear TSC,
I have read this manual and it looks quite interesting but as always with concepts it is hard reading. I haven't gone into details of the text but noted two editing changes that are needed:
Page 6 in the title LFSF should be LTSF
Page 7: We should still use the official term for IPLCs used in the GBF which is Indigenous people and local communities and not the term that hasn't been officially agreed through a COP decision.
I can provide you probably with some pictures of capacity building and development activities that I have organised but need to check how to ensure that GDPR is agreed when taking the pictures. I can also give some examples of where capacity building and development didn't give the right results due to political or donor un-will or some others reasons. Just inform me which you need.
I can also ask colleagues to have a read of the modules and also maybe some partners.
Best regards
Han
