I invite Parties, other Governments and relevant organisations to submit any relevant information, in any appropriate form, to the Secretariat at secretariat@cbd.int or by mail, with the subject title "Notification – Biofuels and Biodiversity"). Submissions will be accepted at any time but not later than 30 September 2011 to be useful as information for the sixteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical, and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-16).

Nominations for the Regional Workshop for Asia on Ways and Means to Promote the Sustainable Production and Use of Biofuels (en)

In paragraph 12 of decision IX/2 the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requested the Executive Secretary to convene regional workshops on the sustainable production and use of biofuels, subject to the availability of financial resources, aiming at considering ways and means to promote the positive and minimize the negative impacts of the production and use of biofuels on biodiversity, taking into account relevant guidance from the Convention. I invite you to submit information on experiences on the development and application of tools relevant to the sustainable production and use of biofuels as well as relevant information from research on, and monitoring of, the positive and negative impacts of the production and use of biofuels on biodiversity and related socio-economic aspects, including those related to indigenous and local communities to the Secretariat (secretariat@cbd.int or fax +1-514-288-6588) at your earliest convenience, but no later than 31 March 2009.
