How the public can participate in the formal sessions of SBI-3

Take part by watching the Third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI-3) Plenary Sessions! Live on 11-13 June 2021 from 7 a.m. -10 a.m., Montreal time.

The four functions and core areas of work of Subsidiary Body on Implementation consist of:

  1. review of progress in implementation;
  2. strategic actions to enhance implementation;
  3. strengthening means of implementation; and
  4. operations of the convention and the Protocols. 

It plays a key role in assessing the current status of the world’s biodiversity, identifying solutions and in bringing emerging issues related to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity to the attention of the global community.

SBI-3 will provide advice on the scientific and technical underpinnings of the framework. Key issues to be discussed include:

SBI - 3 will contribute to the development of the post-2020 framework and to complement it with elements related to means to support and review implementation The meetings are meant to help to maintain momentum in the preparation for the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) and related meetings, including important work related to the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
