Lebanon - Country Profile

The national targets (or equivalent) presented in this database are taken from the NBSAPs received since COP-10, fifth national reports or from documents submitted separately. The mapping of national targets to the Aichi Biodiversity Targets by the Party concerned is indicated in the last column “Related Aichi Target(s)”. All Parties are encouraged to undertake this mapping exercise and to submit this information to SCBD for incorporation in this database.

National Target 12 By 2030, 100% of school and university students and at least 60% of the public are aware of the importance of biodiversity, its values, and the need for its conservation and sustainable use. 1
National Target 13 By 2030, relevant government entities consider the conservation of biodiversity, its benefits for people, the pressures that affect it, and the actions they can take for its conservation and sustainable use in their policy making processes and their implementation. 2
National Target 14 By 2030, vulnerable ecosystems to climate change are identified and adaptation plans are developed and implemented. 10
National Target 15 By 2030, research is improved in Lebanon and shared in a centralized platform (from both public and private institutions), which is updated and made accessible to the public (CHM). 18, 19
National Target 16 By 2030, efforts are made to preserve and document traditional knowledge, uses, and practices of local communities relevant to biodiversity and sustainable use of resources through integrating them into relevant policies and promoting them in relevant economic sectors. 18, 19
National Target 17 By 2020, the institutional and legal framework and government policies are reviewed, updated and reinforced where necessary to ensure effective biodiversity conservation and sustainable use.
National Target 18 By 2020, Lebanon has developed and is implementing a robust resource mobilization strategy with a sustainable mechanism to finance biodiversity initiatives. 20
