Global review of collective progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework

Background on the Global Review

The global review assesses collective progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), including the means of implementation, based on national reports and, as appropriate, other sources. The first global review will be considered by the Conference of the Parties at its seventeenth meeting (COP 17), with a second global review to take place at its nineteenth meeting.

The global review forms part of the enhanced multidimensional approach to planning, monitoring, reporting and review established by the Conference of the Parties in decision 15/6. In decision 16/32, the Conference of the Parties further agreed that the global review, including of the means of implementation, will be based primarily on national reports and a global report on collective progress in the implementation of the Framework.

The Global Report on collective progress in the implementation of the KMGBF

The global report assesses collective progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, drawing primarily on information submitted by Parties through national reports, national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) and national targets, as well as other relevant sources. The report, including its assessment of the means of implementation, provides a key evidence base for the global review of collective progress to be undertaken at COP 17.

The latest revised version of the global report is available here.
