Members of the IAG are invited to provide advice on the draft programme priorities and workplan of the global coordination entity proposed by the Secretariat, including responses to the following questions:

- What are your views on the proposed overarching criteria? Is there anything important missing?
- What are your views on the proposed indicators?

RE: Programme priorities and workplan of the global coordination entity [#3741]
Dear all,

Thank you to the Secretariat and GCE for this draft, which is very helpful and indicates the scale of the task ahead. I have made comments on the attached. In particular, three issues seem to stand out:
1: there are a lot of activities stated and the suggested assessment approach is largely reporting on the number of things (meetings, proposals etc) done. Is it possible to be more focussed on what are the essential activities and which are 'nice to have' given current resource constraints;
2. Can assessment criteria include an appraisal of the quality of the GCE's global leadership role, rather than 'just' the number of activities?; and
3. Could the proposed priority programme and the resulting assessment approach be more clearly aligned to the core functions and modalities given on slide 4. That would allow progress to be interpreted much more easily than at present. It may also help streamline the proposed work and assessment.

I hope that these thoughts help.
Best wishes,

Phil
