Peer Review for COP/16/2 paragraph 6 (d) and (e)

In decision 16/2, paragraph 6 (d) and (e) respectively, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requested the Executive Secretary to commission and prepare the following two studies: on national and international standards for the identification of the small, medium and large entities referred to in paragraph 3 of the annex to decision 16/2 and on contribution rates, including implications for revenue generation and economic competitiveness;

Due to limited resources and the linkages between those two subjects, both studies were combined. As such, the Secretariat has commissioned an independent consultant to conduct the combined study on the above topics. The study will be presented to the Conference of the Parties to consider and establish thresholds and contribution rates at their seventeenth meeting. The full study will be available in English for the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties as an information document, with an executive summary of the study made available as an official document.

The first draft of the study is now available, and a peer review process of the document is proposed in the spirit of inclusiveness and transparency. All responses will be posted under the associated notification page

The draft study is accessible below. Access is provided on the condition that you agree to neither publish, air, or circulate any of these materials.
