Socio-ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes (SEPLS) [#1092]
The term "Socio-ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes" (SEPLS) may not have gained household-level familiarity yet, but it is gaining acceptance in some organizations and fields. In short, "SEPLS" are dynamic mosaics of habitats and land uses where the harmonious interaction between people and nature maintains biodiversity while providing humans with the goods and services needed for their livelihoods, survival and well-being in a sustainable manner. Resource management in SEPLS is often closely related to traditional and local knowledge held by indigenous peoples and local communities.

As landscape-level approaches gain more attention in various areas including indigenous peoples and local communities, ways of discussing landscapes become more necessary. I just wanted to bring up SEPLS as one concept within the landscape context. I look forward to hearing from others about how people are discussing the landscapes and seascapes that indigenous peoples and local communities occupy.
