CBD Website Translations

The JBF supported the translation of the CBD website to all United Nations official languages. A total of 545,000 words were translated from English to other UN languages increasing the website content by as much as 15,000 words in Arabic, 120,000 words in French, 130,000 words in Russian, 135,000 words in Chinese and 145,000 words in Spanish. This project responded to numerous COP decisions requesting the availability of the CBD website in all United Nations languages. Through computer-assisted translation software, the vocabulary of translated words is continuously increasing, making future text translations on the website quicker, easier, and more cost-effective.
