My congratulations on the occasion of the International Day of Biodiversity.
I would like to ask a question about funding of capacity building training programs on assessment and regulation of genetic engineering and Living Modified Organisms` (LMOs) and associated areas provided by Norway Centre for Biosafety (GenØk) in partnership with Norad. Are such programs still opened for applications? In our country we are considering that the training programs with the attraction of skillful in all areas of LMO safety by Cartagena Protocol GenØk specialists are very important for strengthening of established biosafety systems, proper establishment of systems in countries with developing national biosafety and establishment of long-term multilateral co-operation and mutual assistance on regional level for proper fulfilment of obligations under Cartagena Protocol. Belarus has good location with respect to the CEI countries as well as CIS countries, and our Institute of Genetics and Cytology fulfilling obligations of the National Coordination Biosafety Centre has all the laboratory equipment for trainings, so it could be a good platform for the regional courses with the help of Norway specialists.
