Biodiversity losses as well as other environmental impacts related to monocropping are pretty well recorded. Thus, energy plantations following equivalent farming and agronomic practices can be also assessed.
What is urgently required is the search for scientific and technical solutions related to key potential ways to avoid biodiversity losses such as: farming practices, crop rotation, intercropping and agronomics. In order to advance in this direction, lead scientists in the biodiversity and in the energy crops fields should work together in the search for these solutions. Lets put our scientific knowledge to work !
