Climate change is disproportionately affecting the polar regions. In a paper published earlier this year, researchers from the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) revealed that in the last just the last 50 years, the Arctic warmed up by nearly three times quicker than the rest of the world, with an annual temperature increase of 3.1 C.
