The CBD Secretariat works closely with the members of the CPF on a range of issues concerning sustainable forest management (SFM), pursuant to a number of COP decisions (e.g. decision IX/5). The Secretariat is the CPF focal agency for forest biodiversity, and for indigenous issues. Most recently, the CPF members are working towards a joint strategic approach on forests and climate change. Other cooperation includes the development of a joint work programme with the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF)
and a Science and Technology Platform on Forests and Climate Change Adaptation, coordinated by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO)
