The peer reviews relate to decision 15/6 in which the Conference of the Parties requested Parties to revise and update their NBSAPs, following the guidance provided in annex I of the decision, aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and to submit them through the CBD Clearing-House Mechanism by COP-16.

In Notification 2023-055, the Executive Secretary invited Parties and observers to participate in the peer review of two draft documents (below) prepared by the United Nations University (UNU) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), respectively. The latter referenced document represents a joint publication by the UN Environment Management Group Issue Management Group on Human Rights and the Environment which is chaired by OHCHR. Each document aims to support Parties in activities related to revising and updating their NBSAPs. Submissions from any Party or observer were welcome. Comments and suggestions provided through the peer reviews will contribute to the further improvement of these documents.
