Biodiversidad y Empresas (ByE)
In Peru, the “Biodiversity and Business” Initiative is a public-private partnership that seeks to provide a space for interaction and exchange of knowledge and experiences amongst private sector and with the Ministry for the Environment to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The initiative seeks to identify and encourage successful initiatives and improve capacities of business in the implementation of tools for sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Furthermore, get companies commit to improving and valuing their dependence and impact of their business activities on biodiversity and ecosystem services. In that sense, the initiative aims to bring corporate leaders together to ensure that risks and opportunities for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services are understood, addressed, and turned into competitive advantages for their businesses over the long-term, contributing at the same time to the sustainable development of Peru.
Besides the Ministry of Environment and the businesses, the Peruvian initiative is currently in the process of involving other relevant stakeholders and consolidating their activities on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
