Resource mobilization

Article 25 of the Protocol calls for provision of financial assistance to developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition to effectively implement the Protocol through the financial mechanism of the Convention (paragraphs 2, 3 and 5) and through bilateral, regional and multilateral channels (paragraph 6).

The availability of adequate and predictable financial resources is essential to ensure the effective implementation of the Nagoya Protocol. At its eleventh meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention decided to include consideration of resource mobilization for the Nagoya Protocol in the implementation of the strategy for resource mobilization in support of the achievement of the three objectives of the Convention (decision XI/4, paragraph 12).
