Monitoring and Reporting
Article 33 of the Biosafety Protocol requires Parties to monitor implementation of their obligations under the Protocol and to report to the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Protocol (COP-MOP) on measures taken to implement the Protocol.
Following decision BS-I/9(2004), Parties reported every four years plus an interim report two years after entry into force of the Protocol. In decision CP-9/5, the COP-MOP accepted the invitation of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention, contained in COP decision 14/27, and decided to have a synchronized national reporting cycle with the Convention and the Nagoya Protocol. Consequently, reports under the Protocol are now due at the same time as national reports under the Convention. More>>
