Meetings of the COP-MOP
The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Protocol (COP-MOP) currently meets every two years in conjunction with the regular meetings of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity. To date, the COP-MOP has held eleven meetings.

The ICCP Process
The Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in its First Extraordinary Meeting in Cartagena, Colombia (22 - 23 February 1999) and Montreal, Canada (24 - 28 January 2000) established in decision EM-I/3 an open-ended ad hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Cartagena Protocol (ICCP) with a mandate to undertake the preparations necessary for the first meeting of the Parties to the Protocol.
