National Partnering
The following international conservation organizations have been accredited by the GEF Council as its agencies to help eligible governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to develop, implement, and execute their projects.
Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO)
The FUNBIO promotes the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), with the mission of providing strategic resources for biodiversity conservation. As a pioneer financial mechanism in Brazil, it creates solutions to the sustainability of conservation and climate change initiatives. FUNBIO has extensive experience in supporting protected areas and in the design and management of funds, programs, networks and environmental projects, in partnership with both public and private sectors and civil society.
Foreign Economic Cooperation Office, Ministry of Environmental Protection of China (FECO)
The FECO coordinates and manages project funds in cooperation with international financial organizations for the implementation of multilateral environmental agreements and bilateral assistance, as well as other foreign cooperation activities in the field of environmental protection. FECO's mission is to protect the environment by introducing and exporting knowledge, technologies, and funds.
GCF-Accredited entities
The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTFEC) BTFEC is mandated to promote socioeconomic welfare by funding projects that support the conservation of forests, flora, fauna, wildlife, ecosystems, and biodiversity. BTFEC aligns its strategies and plans with Bhutan’s national environmental priorities and strategic vision, aiming to demonstrate leadership in environmental conservation through enhanced grant funding outcomes and capacity-building efforts. It supports a broad range of sectors, including agriculture and livestock, land management, natural resource management, environmental sanitation, renewable energy, sustainable rural livelihoods, community development, and eco-tourism.
The Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF) The EIF was established with a mandate of being a sustainable source of funding for the development and implementation of environmentally sustainable development projects and programmes in partnership with both public and private sector organizations. EIF was officially established in 2001, and began operations in 2011.
Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza A.C. (FMCN) Founded in 1994, FMCN is based in Mexico with the mission to provide strategic technical and financial support to sustain Mexico’s natural treasure. As an environmental fund, FMCN focuses on biodiversity conservation, marine and coastal protected areas, forest preservation, sustainable agriculture, combating deforestation, water resource management, and promoting local community development.
Fondo para la Acción Ambiental y la Niñez (Fondo Acción) Fondo Accion aims to promote activities that preserve, protect and manage natural and biological resources of Colombia in a sustainable and ecological manner.
