The GEF Small Grants Programme - UNDP is organizing a press trip from the 11th to the 17th of May that will allow journalists to visit interesting sites with regard to biodiversity conservation in order to incite them to inform the public on the subject. From the 21st to 26th of May, there will be activities open to the public, which will end with a large event on May 26, aimed at raising awareness of biodiversity issues.
Exhibition on local varieties and local products
GEF/SGP Tunisia celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May 2007 with an exhibition on local varieties and local products in partnership with the Centre of Biotechnology Borj Cedria (CBBC) and the University of Tsukuba, Japan (ARENA). There was also collaboration with Borj-Cedria Technopark, Tunisia and JICA, Japan, to have a side event at the First Workshop on Biotechnology for “One Village, One Product.”
Ten of our Grantees prepared the exhibition which was inaugurated by H.E. the Minister of High Education, Scientific Research and Technology at the “Cité des Sciences” of Tunis.
The media largely covered the event and the exhibition was opened to the public throughout the day.
