The programme on Communication, Education and Public Awareness, CEPA, ensures that knowledge about biodiversity reaches governments, policymakers, educators, communities, media, and the public in general. By raising awareness and promoting education, CEPA helps people understand why biodiversity matters and what actions they can take to protect it. Decision COP 16/10, adopted during COP16 in Cali, Colombia, provides a framework to align CEPA activities with the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It emphasizes adapting strategies to national contexts, involving all relevant actors, including indigenous peoples and local communities, and collaborating with scientific bodies to make biodiversity knowledge actionable.
