The role of local authorities

In order to achieve the objectives of the CBD it is essential that the local authorities undertake specific initiatives to implement relevant objectives of the different programmes of work of the CBD within their respective areas of competence. Local authorities should also participate in the development of national policies for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
