Fisheries and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework: strengthening engagement across fishery value chains, from catch to consumers
This webinar is part of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, hosted by the CBD Secretariat to support the implementation of Target 14.
As part of the response to
decision 16/13, this webinar will focus on best practices and lessons learned in mainstreaming biodiversity in the
fisheries sector, with an emphasis on strengthening engagement across fisheries value chains, from catch to consumers.
Jointly organized by the CBD Secretariat, the
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the
Fisheries Expert Group of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (IUCN/CEM/FEG), this webinar will be framed through the lens of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), including linkages across multiple targets and with particular attention to targets 5, 9, 10 and 15.
The webinar will explore how fisheries actors, and in particular the private sector, can better align with and actively contribute to the effective implementation of the Framework. The webinar also aims to bring together organizations and initiatives already working to engage the fisheries sector, discuss available tools and learning materials, and identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration.
The webinar will be held on
June 9 2026, between 8:00 - 9:30AM EDT.
