Mainstreaming biodiversity into the agriculture sector: supporting the implementation of the KMGBF
This webinar is part of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, hosted by the CBD Secretariat to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the mainstreaming of biodiversity within and across sectors.
This webinar will focus on
agriculture and the opportunities associated with promoting more sustainable practices across the sector.
As both a major driver of biodiversity loss and a sector that depends fundamentally on healthy ecosystems, agriculture has a critical role to play in reducing pressures on biodiversity while contributing to food security and sustainable development. Keeping this in mind, this session will highlight how agriculture can support the implementation of Targets 4 (halt species extinction), 7 (reduce pollution), 10 (enhance biodiversity in agriculture) and 18 (reduce harmful incentives) of the Framework.
The webinar will also build on the emerging findings of the Global Review of collective progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which underscore that accelerating biodiversity mainstreaming across productive sectors remains essential to achieving the Framework's goals and targets.
The webinar will be held on
September 8 2026, between 8:00 - 9:30AM EDT.
