Advancing the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework through sustainable aquaculture practices
This webinar is part of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, hosted by the CBD Secretariat to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the mainstreaming of biodiversity within and across sectors.
This session will focus on mainstreaming of biodiversity in
aquaculture and on the role of the sector in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). The webinar will focus on the relationship between aquaculture and biodiversity and the contributions of sustainable aquaculture practices to the implementation of the KMGBF, as well as raise awareness on a recently developed FAO publication on the role of aquaculture in the implementation of the KMGBF, and other relevant guidance.
The webinar will also provide an opportunity to discuss opportunities and challenges related to sustainable aquaculture practices. This includes highlighting both positive effects on, and risks to, biodiversity and the environment, associated with different aquaculture production systems and sharing experiences with integrating biodiversity considerations into the sector.
