An introduction to nature finance: private sector finance instruments
This webinar is part of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, hosted by the CBD Secretariat to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the mainstreaming of biodiversity within and across sectors.
This session builds on the 'Nature Finance 101' presentation delivered at SBI-7, which covered the foundations of nature finance, suitable financial instruments, and opportunities for governments to scale nature finance. Following strong participant interest and positive feedback, the CBD Secretariat has partnered with the
World Bank to co-host this follow-up virtual session, focusing on
financial instruments to mobilize private sector finance and real-world market examples.
This session also serves as an opportunity for opening participation on this crucial topic to a wider audience that was unable to join in Nairobi. The webinar will expand on foundational understandings of nature finance, including what economic activities qualify as nature finance and how financing these activities helps meet the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
