Developing trade policies supportive of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use
This webinar is part of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, hosted by the CBD Secretariat to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the mainstreaming of biodiversity within and across sectors.
This webinar will focus on
trade, and will highlight the role of international trade and the opportunities associated with promoting more sustainable practices across the sector. In partnership with
UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Secretariat will co-lead a conversation on how to best conserve and sustainably use biodiversity while creating economic opportunities for businesses and communities.
The discussion will draw on experiences of existing communities of practice and networks to highlight how trade policies, market incentives, sustainable value chains and international cooperation can support the implementation the Goals and Targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Particular attention will be given to trade-related tools and policies that can promote biodiversity-friendly trade, facilitate knowledge exchange and support countries and companies in their sustainable actions.
