Enabling the private sector to take positive action for biodiversity: key messages from the IPBES business and biodiversity assessment
Building on the success of the
Communities of Practice Webinar Series, this special session aims to deepen the dialogue on biodiversity mainstreaming by examining the findings of the
IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment and exploring how its scientific evidence can inform and strengthen the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
By bringing together scientists, policymakers, businesses and implementation partners, and considering the complementary findings emerging from the Global Review of collective progress, the webinar will foster a shared understanding of the actions needed to accelerate business contributions to the Framework and support the transition towards biodiversity-positive business practices.
Key topics to be explored include:
- The principal findings of the IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment;
- The relationship between the Assessment and the findings of the Global Review of collective progress under the KMGBF
- The business case for integrating biodiversity into corporate governance, strategy, operations and value chains
- Practical approaches, tools and enabling conditions that support business action across different sectors and sizes of enterprises;
- The role of partnerships, finance and policy in accelerating business contributions to biodiversity goals; and
- Examples of emerging practices that demonstrate how businesses can translate scientific evidence into concrete implementation
