Maral, along with “Roe deer” and “Persian fallow deer”, are three species of deer in Iran. Recently, the head of the provincial department of environment Hassan Abbasnejad announced the implementation of a plan on the conservation of Persian fallow deer and red deer in Arasbaran forests in the northwestern East Azarbaijan province.
