The Conference of the Parties (COP) adopted, at its seventh meeting, decision VII/31 on its multi-year programme of work up to 2010. In paragraph 3 of that decision, the COP decided that, at each of its meetings until 2010, it should assess the state of progress, including obstacles, in achieving the goals of the Strategic Plan and progress towards the achievement of the Convention’s 2010 Target and relevant Millennium Development Goals. The Conference of the Parties scheduled the in-depth review of the programmes of work on dry and sub-humid lands and for the Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI) at its eighth meeting (March 2006).
