This is a side event on the UNEP/FAO/AU supported Fouta Djallon Highlands project that involves 8 west African nations namely: The project is supported as follows: 1. Implementing Agency: United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) 2. Executing Agency: Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations 3. (FAO) in collaboration with International Bureau of 4. Coordination/African Union (IBC-AU) and: • National Environment Agency (Gambia), • Ministry of the Environment (Guinea), Ministry of Energy • and Natural Resources (Guinea-Bissau), Ministry of • Environment and Sanitation (Mali), Ministry of Rural • Development and Environment (Mauritania), Ministry of • Hydrology, Environment, and the Fight against • Desertification (Niger), Ministry of Environment and • Protection of Nature (Senegal), and Ministry of Lands, • Country Planning and the Environment (Sierra Leone) The event programme a) A short overview of the project will be presented b) A brief address from the President of the Council of Ministers of the Programme, H.E.
