The side event aims to present to - and discuss with - CBD SBSTTA 12 delegates the results of the first phase of the project "Streamlining European 2010 Biodiversity Indicators (SEBI 2010)". Building upon the framework for indicators adopted at at CBD COP7, the SEBI 2010 project was set up in 2005 to select and develop a set of indicators to measure progress towards the European target of halting biodiversity loss by 2010. A first set of these European indicators will be presented (with figures, graphs, etc...), which concludes the first phase of SEBI 2010. The meeting will be an opportunity for presenting and discussing ways and means to implement the CBD indicator framework at a regional level and to share experiences gained in Europe in identifying, testing and using a set of biodiversity indicators.
