This side event will present an overview of the mission, work and experience of Quebec’s Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (Quebec's Environmental Public Hearings Board), in relation to the consultation process of indigenous and local communities. The event will particularly focus on the creation of the Albanel-Temiscami - Mount Otish Park, the largest reserve of biodiversity representative of the boreal forest in Quebec and Canada. This project, of which the Cree Nation is a partner and active participant together with the Quebec Government, entailed a consultation process which was carried out by the BAPE.
