Addressing the Bushmeat Crisis: Recommendations from the Bushmeat Liaison Group

The National and International Level Recommendations towards a more Sustainable Use of Bushmeat will be addressed by SBSTTA as part of item 3.1.6 of the provisional agenda on the implementation of Article 10 of the Convention (Sustainable Use of Biodiversity). The review of implementation includes a draft recommendation that the Conference of the Parties adopt the recommendations as a specific complement to the Addis Ababa Principles and Guidelines for the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity. Please join the CBD Secretariat and the event co-organizers (FAO, CIFOR, and CIC) to learn more about the Liaison Group on Bushmeat’s recommendations and their relevance for addressing the bushmeat crisis. The event will consist of four presentations followed by questions from the audience. Dr. Robert Nasi from CIFOR will introduce the recommendations, Dr. William Olupot will present the work of the Great Ape Survival Partnership (GRASP), Mr. Vincent Opyene will present the Bushmeat-free Eastern Africa Network (BEAN), and Dr. Edgar Kaeslin from FAO will give an update on preparations for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) bushmeat project.
