<br>UNESCO and UNEP will be presenting the Great Apes Survival Project (GRASP) GRASP is an innovative Partnership with the mission of lifting the threat of imminent extinction from the great apes and ensuring positive interactions between these species and people in shared habitats. Presentations, videos, talks, discussion will be devoted to the following topics: <br><br> - Species and populations of Great Apes.<br> - Threats to Great Apes: from bushmeat, to mining, to Ebola.<br> - GRASP: an innovative partnership.<br> - GRASP activities at the local, national and intergovernmental level.<br> - Everybody can help! Raising funds and awareness. <br><br> Introductory presentations will be given by Ian Redmond (GRASP Technical Support Team and Born Free Foundation), Sarah Mundy (UNEP, GRASP) and Lucilla Spini (UNESCO, GRASP). GRASP Partners, such as the Orangutan Foundation, will also provide informative presentations and materials on their activities within GRASP. Therefore, as said by GRASP Patron Russ Mittermeier: “Will you join us and help participate in this effort to ensure that our closest living relatives continue to share this planet with us?” <br><br> Informative material will be available for the participants and the GRASP Staff will be available to answer more specific queries after the side-event.
