ICGEB's Role for Information Sharing and Capacity Building in Biosafety

<br>The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is an autonomous intergovernmental organisation dedicated to advanced research and training in molecular biology with special regards to the needs of the developing world. In 1997 it has established a Biosafety Unit to provide institutional services related to genetically modified organisms and their environmental release to Member States. <br><br> Mr. Decio Ripandelli, Director for External Relations of the ICGEB will give an overview of the activities implemented by the Biosafety Unit in the field of training and capacity building. He will also introduce the new "ICGEB Biosafety Outstation", a facility for training and research in risk assessment and management of the environmental release of GMOs.
