The Yasuní-ITT Initiative is an innovative and holistic proposal from the government of Ecuador, which aims to protect the unique biodiversity of Yasuní National Park while accounting for the sustainable development of Ecuador and its citizens. A panel of scientists and economists will address both the economic and environmental implication of oil extraction in biologically sensitive areas, and how Ecuador´s plan to keep the oil underground successfully links conservation and economic growth.
