Meeting
Nineteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice
The need to mainstream biodiversity in economic sectors has been widely recognized in biodiversity polices. How to achieve this however less clear. Following analysis prepared for the 4th Global Biodiversity Outlook, this side-event will provide a governance perspective on concrete opportunities, conditions and pitfalls for mainstreaming biodiversity in sectors such as agriculture, forestry and health. Mainstreaming is here understood broader then a public policy approach only and the side event will focus on embedding biodiversity considerations in policies and practices of sectors (be it farmers and foresters, sector organizations, retailers, NGOs etc .). The role that national biodiversity policy makers and the CBD could play in supporting sectors to mainstream biodiversity will be discussed further.
