Meeting
Eighth Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 8)

Organized by the Global Invasive Species Programme (GISP) and other collaborating partners, this side event will focus on invasive alien species, which are the second global cause to the loss of biodiversity. The South and Central American continents have more biodiversity to lose than the rest of the world and need to understand the problem and act in urgent ways. This event will cover a presentation of the problem and offer a database developed to be used by all countries to organize information on invasive alien species. Participants will also receive a book on biological invasions in South America, produced by the GISP.
