Date and Time
4 December 2003 13:15 - 14:45
Meeting
Second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit-Sharing (WGABS 2)
One of the most controversial issues in Brazil concerning access to traditional knowledge is how to implement more flexible mechanisms when access is made for scientific research, than when there is a commercial perspective. However, non-commercial researches often result in commercial outcomes. The goal of the event is to discuss feasible mechanisms to monitor and control benefit sharing practices derived from commercial uses of traditional knowledge accessed originally for purposes of non-commercial scientific research.
