The session will address UNEP-DTIE-IETC's efforts on the Iraqi Marshlands since 2004 to present. UNEP-DTIE-IETC has been working on the restoration of the Iraqi Marshlands since 2004, taking the ecosystem management approaches and community-based approach during the post-conflict period. UNEP-UNESCO has launched in 2009 the new joint project for the Iraqi Marshlands to implement the longer-term preservation plan, considering the recent accession to CBD and other MEAs as well as the World Heritage Convention.
