Notification 2020-045

Peer review of draft documents for the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 24)

Dear Madam/Sir,

As per notification 2020-038, the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 24) has had to be rescheduled given the continued uncertainties arising from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. SBSTTA 24 is now expected to take place in early November 2020 in Canada, at a venue to be announced.

Pre-session and other relevant documentation for SBSTTA 24 will be made available in due course at the following webpage: https://www.cbd.int/meetings/SBSTTA-24. An information note for participants, with further details on the logistics for the meeting will be made available on the same webpage, once the venue of the meeting has been confirmed.

To facilitate the preparation of documents for SBSTTA 24, a peer review page for the documentation has been created and is accessible at: https://www.cbd.int/sbstta24/review.shtml. There are currently three documents related to Agenda Item 3 (Post-2020 global biodiversity framework) which are available for peer review, i.e.:

  • a draft monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework;
  • an information document on the links between the Sustainable Development Goals and the post-2020 global biodiversity framework;
  • an information document on indicators for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, prepared by UNEP-WCMC, in collaboration with the Biodiversity Indicators Partnership.

I invite you to participate in the peer review process of these documents, by sending your review comments using the associated review comment templates available at the same webpage, by e-mail to: secretariat@cbd.int no later than 25 July 2020

Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Elizabeth Maruma Mrema
